State Significant Development Proposal for 3631 Nelson Bay Road Bobs Farm
State Significant Development Proposal for 3631 Nelson Bay Road Bobs Farm
Newcastle Sand has been supplying quality concrete and asphalt sand, industrial sand, and landscape sand to the region since 2020. Newcastle Sand operates from 398 Cabbage Tree Road Williamtown but because operations at this site will ultimately wind down in the future, Newcastle Sand has an Option to acquire 3631 Nelson Bay Road Bobs Farm (Lot 254 Deposited Plan 753203) and to seek consent for a sand quarry to continue operations in the area.
Consent for a sand quarry as State Significant Development was previously sought for the site in 2013 but ultimately withdrawn. This previous application proposed a much larger operation including use of Marsh Road for access and to excavate / dredge below the water table.
Newcastle Sand proposes a revised and improved sand quarry as State Significant Development which would not use Marsh Road for access or transport and would not excavate / dredge below the water table. Further detail of the proposal is in the Newcastle Sand Bobs Farm Sand Quarry Information Sheet.
